Looks like a corrupt BIOS, but everything works??? I'd be tempted to find the BIOS for your board and reflash it. It might go horribly wrong, so question is 'Do you really need the BIOS features?' If not leave it alone, if you do, have a go at flashing it.

Imaging a failing drive.... HELP?
Tootech replied to Jambo Dave's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Taken from Clonezilla FAQ Not such a good tool for a failing drive IMHO -
I agree with Randy, get a domain name to suit your business and use a professional designer if you consider your website as an integral part of your business. I ought to say that I have worked with plenty of good, profitable businesses that only use their website as a way of displaying the business contact info. It depends on your product, your clients and if you are selling on the web. Bottom line is that you don't need to spend a fortune when you are starting out.

My computer crashed, now Outlook won't open

Try running System Restore to a point before the problem happened. Also, do you have your Microsoft Office CD just in case we need it? -

Yockie, I'll leave it be for now until Starbuck is sure you are clean, then see how things look. -

I think that as SECURUS is showing an error on startup you should remove it - it is not needed now anyway. It may be that part of that program runs a firewall system and that may have been damaged - causing the no internet problem. Also, what antivirus software do you run? If you have no firewall installed, once SECURUS is removed, and PC restarted, run the Winsock Fix as it does fix faulty firewall issues. Note: if you use it with a firewall still installed it may damage the firewall - so remove any firewall first. -

Starbuck, do you know if the Winsock Fix XP does the same job? WinSock XP Fix Freeware download and review - fix XP internet connectivity from SnapFiles I saw this post last night and thought I ought to leave it the malware guys, and wondered if the Winsock fix would sort it out. -
Imaging a failing drive.... HELP?
Tootech replied to Jambo Dave's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I tried imaging failing drives with TrueImage 9 and had a little success, although you have to remember to tag the box to ignore errors. It does depend on the faults though, any hint of trouble and it will stop. A better method IMHO is to use dd_rescue from a bootable Knoppix CD. If you don't want to use Linux, the other tool that works well is Paraben's Forensic Replicator. Paraben Forensics You can use it as a trial and it will image a full drive, again tell it to ignore errors. I have had a lot of success with this one, but only running from XP - there seems to issues with drive protection on Vista and 7. Paraben also can save the image as a file, then when complete you can open the image and extract data - a very nice touch. -
I doubt you will get it to work. The email address you have at Orange is complimentary ie it comes as part of the broadband package and when you move to another ISP there is no requirement for Orange to continue to maintain your email address. Often they close the account, once in a while they forget - Virgin seem to do that. I would recommend you get yourself an email address that is ISP neutral such as Googlemail or Yahoo mail so you can access it whatever your ISP.

You won't get the best out of that card with an E5200, but it will run. What you could do is install that card then at a later date swap your CPU for a quad core if your board will take it. In the mean time you could clock your E5200 - I had one run at 3.26GHz without too much hassle. Course it all depends on your board. The only other consideration is your PSU - the card draws 290W max, so a good 650-700W PSU is a must

No worries Randy. BTW - I don't use a Windows PC anymore.....at all......ever lol. Got myself a Macbook Pro and really happy with it. It's a bit of culture shock to not have some of the utils Windows has - I don't miss them really. There's good and bad in both IMHO, and after working on Windows PC's problems for a good few years I needed a change :)

I reckon the best way to go is to get hold of Toshiba tech support - if there is a known issue they will sort it, it not they will mot probably have you reinstall and update. If the problem persists they should take the machine in under warranty. Probably not what you want to hear, but it may simply be faulty.

problem in installing intel graphic driver!
Tootech replied to samiem's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Reading through the thread, and considering you have used a non Sony install DVD to install Windows I think the chances of recovery are slim to none. You have probably wiped out the recovery partition on your hard drive, and even if you left it in tact when you reinstalled it won't work anyway. Installing Windows on the drive will have changed the boot manager meaning your recovery program wouldn't work anyway. The best way to deal with it is to contact Sony and order a new Recovery DVD set. That way you will have the correct version for your computer and all of your drivers and software will work as they should. -
I doubt it will be a RAM issue - you would get random shutdowns or BSOD's rather than a slow PC. Did you install the correct drivers after you installed Windows 7, or rely on Windows to do it all for you? I'm thinking video driver updates specifically.

Save your chipset driver file to the root of C: drive, rather than in your user account folders, then run it from there. If that does not work, start up in Safe Mode, log on as Administrator and run the installer again. -
Sony Vaio - Slow Atheros AR9285 Wireless Card

I don't have a great deal of experience with wireless N bandwith, I would say stick with an Intel adapter, but if anyone else has good experiences hopefully they will post. -

Monitor switches off during boot up
Tootech replied to msjackson's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Press F8 after your PC boots to get to the Advanced Startup options - then select boot in VGA mode. If it boots ok, change your screen resolution back to the standard settings. -
Thats where I was going Nev & Nev :) Use Revo Pro, uninstall the remnants of iTunes, reboot and try the install again. Use the Forced Uninstall mode.

You can use one wipe tool and then another. The data you are wanting to erase is seems like serious data to me. Also, it looks like you are a registered data holder - not sure where you live, but in the UK it is a requirement to show data is disposed of correctly. I would use this tool as it is recommended by UK Government, and pricewise it aint too bad. Erase Data from PC & Laptop - Hard Disk Wipe - Blancco PC Edition

Sony Vaio - Slow Atheros AR9285 Wireless Card
Tootech replied to Robert01's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
It does seem like there is a problem with this card doesn't it. I differ in my opinion about Atheros ( sorry JB :)), I have always found them ok, although finding the right driver can be a pain. The BT hub doesn't seem to have any wireless speed restriction menu's, so that isn't the problem. If I were you I would do a bit of homework and swap the card for something you know will work - for example Broadcom or Intel. You can pick one up for £20 on ebay - here's one for example Broadcom Wireless-N 300Mbps Mini PCI-E Card DELL 1500 on eBay (end time 26-Apr-10 11:46:04 BST) I wondered why you need that sort of LAN speed - is it streaming movies and the like that you are having trouble with? -
I had a look at the failed update and you don't need it. You can tell Windows Update not to attempt install - let us know if you want to do that, otherwise ignore it. The only things I can see that need sorting are iTunes and Safari - its worth having a go at reinstall now your PC is up to date.

Thats a shame - I guess there must have been more wrong than a Security Tool infection.
