I cannot install Windows Update KB2767887. I have been having this problem for 3 months automatically installing security updates. When this happens, the computer will not shut down automatically. The security update noted will not download successfully. View this thread

I have tried multiple time to install this update without success. It came with another nine updates on Feb.12. All the other were installed including KB2789643 for Microsoft.Net Framework 4. I am running windows XP Professional with IE8. and disk mirroring with Raid1 . +McAfee internet security. -I have tried several of the easier solutions suggested on the forum including Fixit and trying to repair Microsoft.net Framework 4 client profile with add/remove program but the latter failed. -Restoring the sytem to previous checkpoints did not solve the problem. -Checks with McAfee (which was re-installed today) and Malwarebytes were clear. There may have had file corruption problems following a disk failure and reconstruction although I do not appear to have problems with other applications., Checkdisk was activated on reboot. I have not tried any solutions which involve the registry as beyond my limited knowledge. What are the security implications if this update is not installed? Any suggestions as to what checks can be carried out? View this thread

KB2789642 (Microsoft.Net Framework 4 on XP.....). will not install despite multiple attempts and return Error 0x643. This update came with another 9 on Feb 12 and all the others installed properly including KB2789613 also relating to Microsoft.Net framework 4. I am running Windows XP professional and IE8. Checks with McAfee and malware bytes did not detect any problems. Today I have re-installed mcafee. I have tried several of the solutions suggested in the forum to no avail.; . Also the repair option for Microsoft.net Framework 4 Client Profile did not work. Restoring the system to previous checkpoints did solve the problem either. I have not tried anything to do with modifying the registry as it is beyond my competence. Need to add that I may have had some file corruption problems as checkdisk was activated at boot time. Is this update critical to the safety of my system? Any suggestion as to what I can do? Got this computer (an HP Pavilion G6 running Windows 8 64-bit) for Christmas as a very unexpected Christmas gift, so just now getting around to setting it up. Attempting to install the following updates via Windows Update: KB2769166KB2750149KB2756872KB2769165KB2770917KB2779768KB2785094KB2795944 What happens: I download the updates, reboot when it tells me to. It comes up with the green "Configuring Windows Updates" screen, as normal. Reboots, as normal. Continues on as normal, still configuring, until it gets to 98% complete. Then? "Failure to configure updates. Reverting changes" 5 minutes later, it reboots...The same "failure to cinfigure updates" green screen comes up, and 5 minutes later it reboots again. The same screen comes up, but this time it eventually moves on to booting up as normal. I check Windows Update - there's no update history anymore, this after I've installed 30-odd updates over a few days. I check the troubleshooter for Windows Update with admin permissions, and find out Windows Update has been corrupted. It supposedly fixes that. I check for updates again...Get the same updates coming up again. Rinse and repeat as frustration builds. Came here after my 5th attempt failed. Fortunately, everything else is working fine, it's just Windows Update that appears to be broken. View this thread

Hello people! I have a problem, today installed (update ) my laptopKB2795944. First of it, and the rate was still on 15% after 2 hour's, have a blanck screen, and I could do nothing so i forced my laptop to shut down. I see in the log it is successful installed. But when i reboot the laptop its take TO LONG time..... i use windows 7 home premium and after the last automatic update I couldnt get a connection to the internet. Using internet explorer I kept getting a message navigation unsuccessful. I had to restore the system to anearlier point to correct the problem but as soon as the next automatic update was done the problem reoccured View this thread

I use Windows Vista Home edition. For the past two days it has tried to configure 7 critical updates (and a few non-critical), says it installs them, and when I shut down for completion and restart it tells me the upadates were not configured correctly and it is reverting changes...What can I do to fix the problem or should I just take my laptop to a service depot. This happened 4 times already. On 2 of them I used the stand alone installer from the downloads part of microsoft and it still isnt working I have Avast (free version) and I set it on silent mode and turned it off for an hour, still wont work! A recent occurrence - for the past several days while online, I have received a 'PC STATUS: POTENTIALLY UNPROTECTED' notice, suggesting a full scan, the results of the scan have been no threats found. I continue with session, after a time I receive the notice again, repeat a full scan, same results. There does not seem to be any pattern for when the notice appears or a correlation to the sites I am visiting. What is the problem? Can I fix? View this thread

I have been trying to download these 17 updates since some time. For some reason the system always fails to download these updates and throws an error: code 8000FFFF Windows update encountered an unknown error When I try to download these updates indvidually from the microsoft site and run them then I get the error message saying that this update is not applicable to your computer. Hi. Ever since I tried installing framework .4 I've figured out that windows update has a problem. Whenever I try updating it, it doesn't seem to download and closes after a while. I've tried rebooting many times, and I've ran MS fix it without any luck. I have an HP Pavilion running Windows 7 and am getting a BSOD, details below: After a recent Windows update and subsequent request to reboot, the laptop rebooted with a BSOD. The error read as “Interrupt_Exception_Not_Handled” Once I reboot it comes up asking to go to Launch startup Repair which I choose as the option. Once it goes into startup repair it begins to repair but then I get an error message reading as “The instruction at 0xfb79ca53 referenced memory at 0x62e206cd. The memory could not be read.” After this fails in an error, I then go to System Recovery Options and after reading some blogs and forums try to then use system restore to an earlier boot time since this all started after a Windows update. Now this has created a new error issue, when I ran system restore back to a point before the update it runs the process, but in the end I get the following message: “System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer’s system files and settings were not changed. Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070002)” I have tried multiple starting points and keep getting the same error message. At this point I am stuck as to what to do next. It seems by what I am reading that the Windows update may have caused the issue for some reason, but not sure how to fix if I am unable to restore to a point before the update. View this thread

I have Windows Vista Home Premium OS. How do you fix .NET Framework 2.0 so that Windows Update does not fail every time when trying to install "Important" updates related to .NET Framework 2.0? Notes: a) I have already tried the "FixIt" tool. b) I have already fixed 1.0, 1.1, 3.0 and 3.5 using the instructions found in the error code commentary (uninstalled and re-installed). I see that there is a new version of MSE and am wondering when there will be a new version/engine for Windows Defender for Windows 8. I read in FAQ that Windows Defender for Win 8 will have product upgrades/engine upgrades ONLY available from Windows Updates site. Why is this? I do not use WU since 2004. WU is disabled in Services on all my computers. I obtain all monthly, and out of band patches, and any other necessary updates, directly and manually from Microsoft Download Center. I download each to disk as I want a copy on my hard drive and then I enable WU and start it because the Windows installer is broken and will not run without WU enabled. As soon as I have installed the patches, etc. I immediately again stop WU and disable it. I obtain Windows Defender definitions each evening manually from Microsoft Malware Protection Center. I do not need to enable WU for those to install thank goodness. I object strenuously to Windows Defender program/engine upgrades NOT being available on Microsoft Download site. How can I possibly know when I need to enable WU if that is the only way to get them? I like Windows Defender but if Microsoft thinks I should allow it to ram WU down my throat just to get timely upgrades to the program and engine...well...if that is truly the only way to get them then I will have to use a third party antivirus program. Good morning, I am unable to run windows updates on my PC. I try to run microsft update on windows 7 pro and I it checks for update and then comes back with the message "Install new windows update software........." so I click on "Install now" and I get the error "Windows could not search for new updates. An error occured... Error found 8007371B". If I then click on "Get help with this error" I am taken to the microsoft troubleshooter which attempts to fix the issue.
