Here's what happened: Windows automatically grabbed some updates, then forced a restart after 2 days in order to install them. After the restart, after the boot screen (With the Win8 logo and spinning dots), my monitor went into standby for a second or two, then it kept intermitently flashing between a dark shade of black and a lighter grey. Same for my Num Lock key, they both kept flashing randomly at 0.5-1sec intervals. All I could do is restart only to receive the same treatment. Something similar would happen under safe mode too. My only fix was to boot into repair mode and restore the PC to an earlier point. Now it's all back to normal, except for the fact that the bad updates are already half-installed and pending a restart again. I don't plan on repeating this cycle forever, and restoring to an even earlier point is not feasible. Can I remove a update after a new version is installed? Ex: Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2. Also have Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 service pack 2 and so on. They are taking alot of space. Please help. View this thread

Norton was installed when I bought My HP laptop. Used the removal tool and removed it . Then installed McAfee, My real time scanning will not stay on, and it will not show my network. But shows my router. McAfee top people have worked on the problem. So far no fix. Has anyone had McAfee problems. View this thread

On my locked screen there is a tick and the number 7 right next to it, I cannot find what it stands for. I have looked everywhere and am at a loss to discover what it stands for, it is not mail as that has an envelope and a number next to it. It is not updates because I update everything I can find i.e. windows updates, store updates, virus ware updates etc. Can anyone please tell me what it stands for, thank you. I'm trying to install windows update for my dell x64-based system running windows 7. These updates will not install. KB2705291, KB2769369, KB2778344, and KB2647753. I have tried installing the update wizard that is supposed to fix the problems. I have also tried manually installing these updates also. Nothing is working and I'm convinced not having these updates is the reason my computer is messing up frequently. I.E. When I open Pandora.com on Internet explorer, it goes straight to GNC.COM and will give me another popup nothing to do with Pandora. I have been looking online trying to solve this problem and I have not found any luck. View this thread

Jan 2013 update crashed my Vista machine ... I dont know why it never unstalled the 1st update ... so that stinks. Anyways after many many failed attempts at recovery it just gets hung up on everything .. but never once showed the Windows logo ... on my PC i have take out the hard drive and have it as a slave to another PC .. I see the files fine and everything looks great. How can I .. or can I ? stick and update file in the slave or something and be able to put it back in my 1st PC.. The info on the hard drive doesnt matter to me I would like to keep the windows on it if I can .. I have my key and all those things but dont have the disk anymore.
