My PC is infected with the International Cyber Security Protection Alliance ransomware virus. I have the latest Microsoft Security Essentials suite and have run a full scan, and I've done a quick scan using Microsoft's malware protection tool, which found nothing, yet the virus is still there. Microsoft Works Word Processor Wont Launch- What happens when I click on the icon it loads for about half a second but it dose not let me open it. When I click on the document it dose the same thing. System- 64 -bit operation System Processor- Not Available Window 7 Home Premium Also it won't update anything of Windows it keeps wanting to restart my computer not all the time but on a schedule update at the same time , but every time I click restart when it load it says Failure to update so I have a lot of things that need updating but it's not Updating any of them. When I had this computer built I had it made with MSI Wind and XP installed. The CD had issues from the get go. I have been searching and trying to use the discs and to no avail. So, I recently got Office 2003 cds and installed that instead. Is this going to cause bad problems for the system having XP and office 2003. The Office 2003 service pack 3 updated as the xp version still failed. I would like to know if I did more harm than good by installing the 2003 version and not trying and retrying the xp cds. When I go to try to download the update KB 2804527 and it is attempting to install under the System Security and then under Action Center it will show two listings of Microsoft Security Essentials and one holds the status of snooze while the other is active. The windows defender program which should be there and in the status of off is not showing at this moment in time when those two are showing. When the installation fails one of the Microsoft Security Essentials (the snooze one) disappears. The windows program defender then reappears. The download is still not working. I am unable to unistall the program and when I do I get the error that is the same as what the download is giving to me. Which is error code 0x0800FF80. If anything this just is proof as to how screwed up this program is and only this program thanks to the update getting messed up. This is occuring on Win7 64-bit SP1. I have tried several attempts of solutions to fix this however nothing has worked so far. View this thread

Hello , I was thinking of deleting this folder so called $Windows.~BT . I know it contains the log regarding then failure of windows update. I want to know what more does this folder contains and will it be ok to delete it coz it is taking up almost 8 Gb of space on my disk . Secondly i want to know , what if I delete this folder , will the windows be able to create logs regarding any failure of windows update like this ? I mean will windows be able to create this folder again for creating logs ? if not then can any one tell me the exact things which i should delete from that folder so that to free up the space . Have a message that reads"This copy of Windows is not genuine". Is this genuine or a bug? I bought the CD off of the internet. Its a 'Dell" label with an unattached proof of license Certificate of Authencity label that looks 'worn'. I figured it is from storage somewhere. Any news that Windows 7 OS are scams? I'm really not familiar with Windows updates that much but if there is an update, I usually just update. But when I try to update KB2789645 and KB2789642 on my Windows 7 Home Premium laptop, it takes a long time and after restart, my laptop hangs a LOT! I have to system restore to recover from it. I have a Gateway Windows XP with 2 RAM slots. Originally, there were two 256 MGs of RAM. To increase my RAM, Gateway sent me Kingston 1 GB DDR2 of additional RAM. In order to upgrade to my XP 32 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, I need an additional 1 GB of RAM. My questions are as follows: (1) Can I just install another 1 GB of RAM in the slot currently containing one of the original 256 MGs of RAM? (2) Do I have to get a DDR module of the 1 GB of RAM? The Kingston instructions say that DDR2 and DDR modules are not interchangeable. (3) What is DDR? Thanks. View this thread

Just carried out a week long repair installation of windows XP pro, overcoming all sorts of problems with hanging at 34 minutes, motherboard drivers not installing, failing to read compressed files from the XP Pro CD, then hanging at the activation screen (wouldn't let me log on, or get to the acvtivation screen), I got round it bu installing IE8 then used the telephone service to activate XP Pro. Currently have Avira AV newly installed, and just got rid of Avast as it is not quite as good according to the latest test report from VB100. Anyway popped along to get security updates (116) and all failed. Allowed Microsoft's fixit tool to have a look at the problem and it failed. It said the that the Windows Update component needs repairing. I am currently in safe mode with networking. View this thread

Greetings, I just performed a OEM CD system repair and having trouble accessing the firewall and istalling updates. I manually downloaded SP2 and it declined to complete installation at the end. Some state that I need to bypass SP2 and go straight to SP3 while nother previous post suggeeted installing Windows Server 2003 SP1 update prior to SP2 and SP3. If my System is already SP1 XP (sept 2003) do I still need to dl WS2003 SP1 or am I suppose to go straight to SP3? Many thanks for your time. This is the first time I've had issue. View this thread
