I have 4 updates failing to install for Windows 8 Pro x64. The 4 updates that are failing are KB2756872, KB2770917, KB2779768, and KB2785094. I've tried everything I could find on the internet, but had no luck. Windows update gives me the error code 80073718 when it fails. I've tried running the update troubleshooter, but that did not help. Anyone have any other ideas? I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. View this thread

I keep getting homepage.exe coming up as a security risk issue through my computer security and am not sure whether to accept or block. I have blocked it previously and think that this then caused errors in website browsing as I was unable to access any websites and was getting the message that a "socket connection had failed due to socket connection access restrictions" followed by a 10 - 11 digit number. Hi I currently have Windows 8 Pro installed and at the moment my current Antivirus program is the version for telecom user of New Zealand of "Mcafee." At the moment when running a full scan this has lead at to show 0% complete done after 2 hours. I have tried to uninstall Mcafee and do a "Clean Installation" of Mcafee but while uninstalling it it encountered a problem and couldn't continue. This resulted in me still having Mcafee installed which resulted in me not being able to launch Windows Defender as another Antivirus program was installed. Is there a possible way to launch Windows Defender by bypassing this issue appearing? Letting my open and Scan for Malware while another antivirus scanner was installed. I currently have a hunch that a latest update has resulted in this for mcafee but as of now (4 days since update released) I haven't been able to run the scheduled scan every monthly. The last time I ran a scheduled scan was on the 8 March (not really a month ago but still!) but have recently (after the update) downloaded a few items from some websites and have been unable to scan them for viruses! Hi,I am experiencing a problem with Window Update. I cannot list any Windows Security Update in "Installed Updates" and there is no update in "View Update History". It does not give me an option to restore hidden updates.I think windows update got corrupted. I tried to run System Update Readiness Tool but it took almost 1 hour and I thought I got stuck. I have a windows 7 package and am currently unable to install windows updates and Updates are failing to configure. I have tried to add a device namely an ipod shuffle, the driver can not be found and when windows tries to sort out the issue automatically it fails to do so, despite telling me i need the UBS MASS DRIVER. So i recently upgraded my windows vista to a windows 8, the first two weeks everything ran smoothly, and then i started seeing problems with the software relating specifically to my speakers and built in microphone. So around the second week of having windows 8 installed my microphone stopped working, i went in and tried to figure out what is wrong with it, and could not find anything, and then about another week later i was noticing, that my speaker volume was behaving weird too, the sound would rise and lower randomly while watching a video. For 2 weeks now I keep getting 5 updates for .net framework offered after they have been installed they are (KB2487367,KB2656351,KB2533523,KB2468871,KB2600217) have tried uninstalling and reinstalling them. Also tried windows fix it and command prompt scan no problems were found. View this thread

And, that's funny. I have had this copy for quite some time now and IT IS genuine. It has updated in the past. Just the last few days it is acting up. So, I sought Microsoft's tech support help. After spending a whole day with the guy, who had access to my computer (I gave him access), he looked into every which way and came up with nothing. Now, I do not have a W7 - 64bit update. I do not even know if updates are important. I guess it is. Microsoft Tech support, even verified the serial # of my copy of W7 and satisfied itself of its genuineness. The tech guy suggested that I reformat and reinstall. No sireee, that's not a good solution. The tech guy just wanted to take a easy way out. That was not one of the options I would go for. I would like to ask the forum if any of you know a fix for this problem. 1. Are updates necessary? 2. Why a genuine - paid for copy of w7 - will refuse to update? Virus maybe?
