  1. My Win 7 system died completely after awaking from sleep, downloading some update, installing and rebooting. Now it goes directly to a blue crash screen. It will not boot under any boot option at all. Straight to blue screen crash dump. I booted with logging enabled and the last driver to be loaded was mouhid.sys. (I put the drive in a new machine to look at it). The program size was 30.5K, which according to what I have read is off by 2X. I tried to download and replace the file thinking that if this was a trojan, maybe I could get the machine to boot. Win 7, will not allow me to chage the file, even though it is the I drive, and I am the administrator. It says I need approval from "TrustedInstaller". How in the world do I get that? I am not installing from a website. Can anybody help me? There is a lot at stake here. View the thread

  5. I have a Compaq FS7600 PC that I bought in Dec. 2005. I have Windows XP Home Edition V 2002, Service Pack 3. I have McAfee Anti Virus Software installed and running. The problem I'm having is that I wanted to use a 16 or 32 GB SD card to back-up my files. My PC will read the old 1 or 2 GB SD cards but won't read the larger ones. It gives me an I/O error. Can I download something that will make the computer recognize the larger storage devices or do I need to bite the bullet and buy a new PC? Thanks! View this thread

  12. Good morning everyone, My second-hand computer (Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop running Win XP Pro [sP3]) did not come with a backup CD. From what I have read, there are imaging programs like Acronis & Shadow Protect which can create an image of everything, including the operating system onto a CD/DVD or USB flash drive which can then be used to recover the same computer if it should become completely unbootable. My question(s): Do imaging programs actually re-install everything, including the operating system itself? If not, where can I acquire a LEGITIMATE WIn XP Pro SP3 backup CD to use? Thank you for your time and any info! View this thread
  13. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with a 2.1ghz dual core processor. It came with a Windows 7 Ultimate Version. I had immediately made a dell system restore disc. Now i wish to restore my dell laptop to factory settings using these discs. I have about 250 gb of data on this laptop which i don not wish to lose. I have stored all of it in a single folder titled backup. How do i use these discs to restore the windows 7 without losing the data. I do not have enouigh dvds or externa harddrives to copy this data and store it somewhere else. What should i do.? Is there anyway to do a complete system restore using those discs but without affecting the folder titled backup? View the thread
  14. when you schedule a meeting in Outlook 2010 it used to have an icon of two people in the calendar so that you knew others had been invited. Is it still possible to show this? Also the meeting entry now shows the organisers name plus the invited attendees name, can this be hidden? One last question when you schedule a meeting say from 3.00 - 3.15 it doesn't show that precisely on the calendar and could be confusing, is there any way round that. Thanks View this thread

I already have a backup setting for other files which backup to a schedule, but in choosing files to backup, it does not appear that I have (or can) selected e-mail for such protection. Copied and Pasted from the link above.... http://extremetechsupport.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/48055a26e210d15ec1cdf2703e3e5265.pngCAUSE This issue occurs because the Wups2.dll file that is included in the latest version of Windows Update is not installed correctly. For scenario 1, the registry entries that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing after the repair install of Windows XP. The release version of Windows XP does not contain the Windows Update software. For scenario 2, the registry entries that correspond to Windows Update are changed back to the Windows XP SP2 version if you did not restart the computer before you install Windows XP SP3. The registry entries for the Wups2.dll file are changed to pointing to the Wups.dll file that is included in the release version of Windows XP SP2. http://extremetechsupport.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/5c99689453cd91b969c4fdabbc96e9fe.gifBack to the top |Give Feedback http://extremetechsupport.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/48055a26e210d15ec1cdf2703e3e5265.pngRESOLUTION To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods. 25. So basically I built my computer myself and have Windows 7 64bit OEM installed. I'm know that there are restrictions on what hardware you can upgrade on an OEM OS. I'm pretty sure RAM is ok. But if I want to get a knew video card (looking at the GTX 680) I think I have to install it and then get it reactivated. My question is how do I do this exactly, what the process for installing new hardware. While I'm at it I may as well ask this as well: What hardware can and cannot be upgraded on a Windows 7 OEM operating system without it being deactivated and if it is deactivated how do I get it reactivated. Also what happens if the OS is deactivated? What are the limitations and such? Thanks for your help and sorry if this info was already available. I did search first but could only find vague mentions of the info I was looking for. View the thread
