Hi all, im guessing that this drive is broken, but wonder if there is anything i can try just to see. Optiarc dvd rw AD 7201 s scsi cd rom device. It is seen on the pc, when you click computer, but if you insert any discs, it is like it is trying to read the disc, but it cant... i have tried to update drivers using device manager, but it says that the drivers are the correct ones. any help appriecated.

Thank you both, i never did find out why i couldnt get into F8, but have reinstalled windows now. Guess it was just one of those things.

Hi all, new problems, when booting the pc, it will not pass a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner. Have tried the repair options on the windows disc, even did a system restore, but it still has the same problem. Also i am told F8 is the button for the windows advance options, but all i get there, is the BIOS screen. Any help please.

Starbuck , thanks for that, but they seem to be have been there for months, and yes i seen it myself... its very strange. I know ive been told not to worry, and if it was me.. i wouldnt lol

Thanks DTSM, to be honest its not happening on my pc, its my other halves, when we do the same thing on all the other pc's it clears.. and he is a man that gets bees in his bonnets and wants to know why those files wont delete lol.

Wondering if anyone can help ... when i do a disc clean up, you tick the boxes of the files you wish to delete, which is fine, and i have ticked all of them. I click ok.. the clean up runs, but when i come back i still have 4.41kb of offline webpages, which i really cannot remove. anyhelp appreiacted.

My sentiments exactly, and to be honest, there are so many scams and viruses, etc on facebook, im wondering if its worth being on there at all !!!!

thank you beeceebee, this is why i feel so silly... i have read and re-read the virgin site re.. email, and still cannot get it right... yes i know i can use webmail, but would like them all in one place :(

Im sure im going to make myself look silly here, but help please i have a few email addresses, which i would like to keep on one client. virgin media blueyonder and my own been trying for ages, and can receive mails on all these accounts, but cant seem to send anything... ive looked at the server settings, but cant seem to work out why they are not working. any help please.

Hmm thanks Dalo, It is the same im afraid, somedays i have no problems at all. Then others it just does the same, shuts down twice and then all is fine. Very strange.

Sorry for late reply (work :( ) Thanks so much for all your advice as usual, having a good old clean out seems to have done the trick :) One problem sorted.. another has now arisen, this time router problems, but am trying something else first, so i make sure i try all options, before calling on you good people once again. Hi DTSM, thanks for that, i have never used those, i normally switch them all off, and it also seems strange that after two resets, it all works fine. But i will go and check to see, so thank you.

sorry my post was not very helpfull i guess lol... pc is Hewlett Packard s3652uk AMD Phenom 9150e Quad- Core Processor 1.80 Ghz 64bit. The diagnostic program is built into the pc, i have only used it once before, which was shortly after i bought the computer, where it told me that my hard drive had failed. (which hp sorted for me) when i ran it this morning, it showed no errors at all. I admit, apart from cleaning the dust from the outer caseing, i have not cleaned it, as im a little frightened of opening the caseing. Thanks.

Hi all, Im posting in win7 thread, but not sure it right place. I installed win7 ultimate, about 3 weeks ago, and everything was great, until two days ago.. when for some reason, when i switched pc on, it lasted about 20 minutes and then just switched off !!!, i restarted it lasted about 2 minutes.. then off again... no warning nothing.... when i restarted the 3rd time, it seemed fine until of course i switched off, went to work.. when i came back home, same problem. so figured it must be win7... so have now gone back to vista... installation went fine.. no problems... but then... same problem with shutting down... it has shut down twice already, but since then it has been running fine for about 2 hours :confused: My pc is an HP, which has a diagnostic feature, when i ran that, everything seemed fine.. eg memory, hard drive etc... anyone any ideas please

I have just had this problem, i was informed by a couple of people who i had on my contacts list, that either i was sending them a blank mail, or a mail with a link in it to them, it appeared that i must have had my hotmail account copied, as the mails were indeed appearing in my sent mails. I remember my self receiving an email a few months ago, so excpect that it came from there, anyhow.. i took the drastic action, of deleting all my contacts (so they did not receive any more from me), and started a new... NON hotmail mail account.
