Thanks Guys I can't find any updates. I took the tick out of micro and optional yonks ago. just kept to important. and let me choose what to install :-( Plus some fiddling in the " there be demons " part info from this guy: http://www.infoworld.com/article/3020460/microsoft-windows/banishing-get-windows-10-nagware-isnt-as-easy-as-you-think.html but I can't remember what I done now lol sure sign of alzhimers :-(

I don't think I'll try running it again tonight lol may be tomorrow ;-) But I don't think I've fixed the problem yet :-( I think I'll try next month to get any updates and see what happens :cool:

Hi Peeps, haven't a clue what's going on here. I run windows updates just to see if anything was ready to be updated. But nothing happened, it just kept running for hours. dots flying across the screen, but didn't say " no updates found " theere was no cancel or stop button either. Has there been any changes that I've not heard of ? only thing I've done is update live updater for acer. I didn't even know I had this on my laptop, but it was there ok. in the end I went in to "task manager...services and stoped the windows updater. I've done the important updates today ( cumulative KB300850 ) is there any of the recommended updates I should do ( rec: KB2976978. KB3123862. KB3132080. KB3135449. Thank you 👍 I'll call back at teatime.

Thanks Starbuck. I took the tick out of that " give me recommended the same way" and I have " check for updates, but let me choose if i want them " When I went back and looked, all the ticks are gone from recommended boxes.

I upddated " important " updates, but took the tick out of "recomended" ( KB2976978 ) Did I do right ? or should i go back and update the recomended ( KB2976978 ) Thanks for any help. I'm trying to avoid updating windows 10. I have updater set to let me pick what to update " something like that :confused:

Hello Dave, I have noticed, since the sun has been shining the last few days, that the gloss screen on this lappy is rubbish. Only to be used inside, and with minimum light reflections. It's like having a bad screen on a phone in the street :-( apart fron that, I'm doing ok so far.

Quick update. after using windows defender while I got use to 8.1 and I'm finding it ok. I found, in My emails, kasperskys mail. so I reinstalled it on this machine, defender, plus spywareblaster and malwarebytes must have done the trick. because Kaspersky didn't find anything. I hope it works as well as defender did. I'll let You know :)

Cheers starbuck, that's a load off :) I'm enjoying the 8.1 at the moment, I love the way you just type anywhere on the desk top to bring things up. But finding picture and other things have been a challenge. there's about 3 different places you can find them lol but on this model the touch pad is a no no :(. Thanks for the back up everyone. Oh while I'm here lol sorry. another question? where do you find roll back to an earlier start date and how do you make new start points....thank you

Right, I removed adobe off My laptop. I'm going to see how far I can get without using it. Then try and up-date it as i need it. I'll let You lnow how I get on :cool:
