I am desperate to find an exact recipe returning ODBC functionality to my new Vista 64 computer. I have hundreds of data management scripts all using ODBC to grab data from Access, Excel, and Oracle files for analysis in Stata or SAS. But in Vista 64, I only see a driver for SQL. I was using XP x64 in my old computer, and I had a list of drivers a yard long that included all my data sources in several languages. I need simple explicit directions to some file I can download from Microsoft that will install all the needed ODBC drivers and get my data connections back. On forums like this, I see bits and pieces of an answer, but mostly a lot of anger over this issue. If anyone has solved this problem, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks. T

As stated I am totally clueless about pc's hoping this belongs here. Since I returned from a trip to denmark and installed windows 7 onto my PC i've had nothing but problems. I play World of warcraft and since I returned it's been playing with 1fps and 5fps if i'm lucky, while I was away my sister took it upon herself to vacuum my pc god alone knows and last night I reseated the RAM, this seemed to provide a temporary fix and everything retured to normal, then earlier I entered an instance and I was being disconnected from the game constantly with 3fps and now it's totally unplayable it's almost like someone has the game attached to an elastic band and its pulling it so i freeze for 1-2seconds then releases it. I've read this could be a ram issue, currently running 3gb but I just wanted to get other opinions on the situation. I'm experiencing problems outside of games as well, msn messenger for example keeps crashing if I tab onto it. Any help is appreciated, thank you! Kat

I'm actually not too sure what section 'drivers' fits into, so I apologize if this is in the incorrect section. My mouse was acting ever so oddly and have purchased a new one - but my poor computer is still behaving badly. A couple of my programs have stop working properly and my scanner has become confused, etc etc - so after ensuring all my safety programs were fully updated, I ran each one twice, with no bugs showing at all, thankfully. Just to be sure, I went to a site called 'Pit Stop' (saw it recommended here, I think) ... and after viewing results (no bugs or security problems), I'm wondering if it is outdated drivers that can cause lots of computer woes? And if so, could someone please advise how one does updates for drivers, please? (I've added the image showing all the ones that should apparently be updated, but have literally no idea how to do it).

Hi , I don't know if this is the right place I could of sworn there was a multimedia section but can't see one. Can any one suggest some good free TV viewing software, I have a cheap USB digital receiver, it came with blaze TV software which is rubbish and I've been using it happily with windows media centre on vista but looking for something for the XP computer, any suggestions? thanks

I've got a problem that is driving me mad... i recently cleared my hard drive started from scratch . my problem revolves around certain progams for example if i launch any type of media player to play music or to watch a film without any codecs installed...it works absolutely fine but as soon as the codecs are installed the computer loads up the film then turns the pcstraight off and restarts after a second of viewing...at first i thought i had dodgy codecs so removed them entirely and tried a different lot...still the same problem... if not annoying enough...it then started doing the same with limewire and certain webpages...so im thinking it could be flash/java orientated to... same thing happens with zshare or if im trying to upload multi pics on a java screen... this is the error report thats sent to microsoft says on reboot serious error BCCcode: 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : BFB2CA55 BCP3 : B4D9C89C BCP4 00000000 OSVER : 5_1_2600 SP :3_0 Product : 768_1 any help you can give me would be most appreciated!!! cheers Rhoda x
