I'd very much doubt that OE itself is causing the problem, Klondike, assuming the machine's already connected. You might check your settings at OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [account(s) | Properties | Connection, though. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ klondike wrote: > On a windows 2000 machine with sp4 I have a client that whenever they open > their outlook express it creates a network icon in the system tray, when > the > machine goes into standby and comes back up it creates another icon so > there > are multiple icons in the system tray, the icons do not respond to any > left > or right clicks. Guest klondike Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Re: network icons appear when opening outlook express Re: network icons appear when opening outlook express figured out more on this issue. It appears that when the machine was going into standy it was creating a disconnect icon in the system tray as the machine was shutting down, for whatever reason when the machine came out of standby the icon was not being removed and thus when the user when it and out of standby it kept creating icons. A reboot removed the icons. Adding a notification to show when connected in the network properties appears to have stopped the issue.
