Add/Remove

Been cleaning off a hard drive w/o reformatting. I have been removing

unwanted programs, first through the add/remove. Some that I have removed

are still populating the add/remove program. How can I get rid of the

references. I have alreaqdy gone to the folders and removed them and even

to the Registry. Reboots don't seem to do the trick. Any thoughts out

there?

Re: Add/Remove

There are 3rd party programs that can remove a listing from the add/remove

programs list.

CCleaner is one (http://www.ccleaner.com) but simply removing the listing does not

take care of the actual problem which is a registry problem.

Another alternative is to re-install the program and then un-install it

again.

You can also search the Registry for the file name your want to remove and

delete the entries you find.

BUT remember that editing the Registry is an easy way to really SCREW your

computer, Make backups first.

Re: Add/Remove

there are freewares available

that can delete unwanted

entries from the a/r listing.

this utility is nifty and i think

it will help you. i use it all

the time:

http://www.amsn.ro/

by going into the system

configuration option, you

will have the option to

"delete" or "uninstall"

a/r entries from the list.

since you have uninstalled

and deleted folders, then

you need simply to "delete"

the line entries.

Re: Add/Remove

Open the registry editor to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

There are subkeys under Uninstall that will contain the names of the

programs (and updates) on the add/remove list. Right click the ones that

have been uninstalled and delete the subkeys.

Search for AddRemovePro. Just like the Add/Remove feature but also lets

you remove duplicates, bad entries, etc etc.. Real handy.
