Hello Folks,

I am wondering if there are any particular things I should look for in

trying to diagnose a long (about a minute) shutdown time. The delay appears

to be in the "Saving your settings" phase.

I created a new account, and it shuts down after just a second or two, so it

would not seem to be a hardware glitch.

Any ideas?

(running Windows 2000, SP4, all updates)

Thanks in advance,

- Steve

Try the "User Profile Hive Cleanup Service":

A win200 with all updates and a one minute shut down is normal for me.

But then, my computer is somewhat older and slower(260MB RAM, 600mhz

processor).

I had this problem as well.

Try this:

Open a command prompt window.

Type the following and hit RETURN:

NET STOP SPOOLER

Close the window.

Try shutting down and see if it goes faster.

Let us know what happens.
