The downgrade comprises a "Rescue & Recovery" CD and five "Product

Recovery" CDs. Don't think I've got much chance of finding drivers,

let alone installing them, but thanks all the same!

Looks like you need one of these, depending on your machine type. Read

the README files.

Yes, that second one looks to be what I need (R61i Model: 8943) -

I'll give it a try.

I downloaded the appropriate file and extracted it to the default

location. When I tried to run the setup.exe file there was a pause,

then this error message appeared:

 

"Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this

driver"

 

Any idea why this could have happened? I don't think I made any

mistakes.

I have now. It was a long job, but it turns out the modem was

disabled in the BIOS. Once that was corrected, I was able to install

the driver. The modem was finally recognised and now works.
