Guest Jean-Baptiste Faure Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hi all, Glad to try the new Google browser on my x64, but I have a problem : Each time I open Options menu, Google Chrome crashes completely. No problem at all on my Windows XP Pro 32-bit machine. I know Chrome is still Beta, but such a bug seems very strange for a Google product. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas? Thank you!
Guest Zootal Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Re: Google Chrome crashes on Windows XP x64 Same here. Crashes every thirty seconds or so. I found it to be unusable because of this, and ended up removing it. Guest Charlie Russel - MVP Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Re: Google Chrome crashes on Windows XP x64 It's a very early beta, from all I have heard. And let's face it, google hasn't exactly ever worked all that well with 64-bit anyway. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "Zootal" <msnews@zootal.nospam.com> wrote in message news:%232cxz46DJHA.768@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Same here. Here is newer build: "Portable Chrome 0.2.151.0" http://stadt-bremerhaven.de/2008/09/03/portable-chrome-021510/ BTW, you can build the latest Chromium http://dev.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/getting-started Visit the Chromium Buildbot waterfall to see the state of the tree: http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/waterfall/ Regards, Roman
Guest Jean-Baptiste Faure Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Re: Google Chrome crashes on Windows XP x64 Just tried it. Portable Chrome 0.2.151.0 won't crash with x64. Thank you so much, Roman! Guest KevinD Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Re: Google Chrome crashes on Windows XP x64 Works perfectly well on Vista 64 Bit. Running it since the moment it was released, not a single crash and BLAZING fast. I really like it. Vista Ultimate 64 Bit is the MOST STABLE O/S I've ever experienced. Mine is 180 degree opposite direction. Brand new (month) HP M9350f Elite Quad )Phenom 9850, 6MB ram, Vista Home Premium..... I probably have spent 40-50 hours since purchase trying every possible "fix"... It hangs, crashes, slows to the point it quits accepting commands, varies from occasional flashes of greatness to a more typical buggy, recalcitrant, temperamental boat anchor. You name it, I have tried it. Had to restore 2-3 times from the hard drive sector, after that 4 times using the recovery disc because restore quit. As i said, glad yours is rock solid. Currently I am exploring downgrade to XP 64 bit. If that does not work, I will buy a MAC and follow that path. Regards

Regards ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How many memory chips do you have? I've been using XP64 for a while now, with three different Phenoms. I had some serious stability problems, and I finally discovered that none of the motherboards I was using are stable with four memory sticks. I removed the four 1GB sticks I was using, replaced it with two 2GB sticks, and now my system is rock solid. For the first time ever. Try removing all but two memory sticks and see if it is stable.
