Guest CCOX Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I get a stop error message when I start the laptop. How do I get rid of this screen and run CHKDSK/F as instructed?

Here are a few options: - Try starting the laptop in Safe Mode. - Start it with a Bart PE boot CD. - Remove the disk, then install it in an external USB case and run chkdsk on some other PC. In all cases you must make sure that your important files (including your EMail files) are backed up to a different medium BEFORE attempting any repairs.
