Can ask.com be removed from the Ff browser?

Or is there an alternative browser with adblock facities etc. other than 'Chrome' 'Int Exp' and 'Ff'

I have downloaded and run the analytical programs mentioned in the sticky above, just in case.

There are a number of things you can do.

1. If there is an ask toolbar in your programs you can simply uninstall it. (This is the bast way.) Ask is notorious for using 3rd party download sites to get itself installed. Next time you download a program of any kind make certain that you have a good look at each of the preticked boxes and don't fall for words like "recommended."

2. In Firefox under options you can select "toolbar layout" and a small window will open. Just drag Ask to the window and it will disappear from the browser window.

3. If ask is listed as an extension or add on simply disable it.

Firefox has a good adblocking extension called adblock plus. Just go into the addons in your menu and select get ad ons. Search for adblock and it will give you the opportunity to install it directly.

Ahaaaa I might have a different copy of firefox ......

1) there was no ASKtoolbar - but I did do a fresh download and was very watchful to not click yes to everything like I may have done in the past.

2) I looked under 'options' for a toolbar layout and found nothing like that but did find a window that allowed the menu-bar to be 'customized' dragging the ASK.url thingy to that got rid. Many thanks for that.

Just one further thing my preferred home page is 'google' but firefox wont allow me to alter it under options internet from 'goonsearch' or something.

Do you know how I can do that?

Thanks
