Guest eurotech Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hello, I just noticed this problem when I sent a file to the Recycle Bin, and then decided that I needed it. The usual method I use is to right click the desktop and then select UNDO. Unfortunately, the UNDO command never appears in the right click context menu. Clicking on EDIT in the menu bar reveals that UNDO (CTRL+Z) is greyed out. Using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Z produces no results. It doesn't matter if I delete a file, move a file, or rename a file the UNDO menu never appears in the right click context menu nor does the UNDO command under the EDIT menu ever become activated. It seems the UNDO option is permanently disabled. Is there a registry setting controlling this that I can change? I am running WinXP 64-bit with SP2 slipstreamed. I chose 64-bit over 32-bit because I have 8GB of RAM installed.
Guest Carlos Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 RE: No Undo (CTRL+Z) option, permanently greyed out Hi, This greyed-out thing is normal when the Recycle Bin is empty AND you have checked the option of not sending them there. You might want to right-lick on the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop and check its properties. Guest Bobby Johnson Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Re: No Undo (CTRL+Z) option, permanently greyed out You press your right cheek against the monitor screen close to the icon and then you right lick the icon until it disappears! Guest eurotech Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Re: No Undo (CTRL+Z) option, permanently greyed out Yes, all very funny. Unfortunately for me, I'm still at a lost as to why the UNDO option never works. My Recycle Bin is not disabled though, but that was a good guess. I right licked it to make sure.
