When I open Windows Explorer using the Start\All Programs\Accessories\Windows

Explorer method to open Explorer I get a heading that includes the address

bar, but when I try to open a folder using a shortcut or even the My Computer

icon everything at the to disappears. Does anybody know how I can fix this

problem?

Thanks,

J

RE: Address bar and options is missing

I'm having the same problem except they no longer disappear - they do not

appear whenever I start Windows explorer. Before they would disappear as J

describes, I could close the app and reopen and get them back - but now I

can't see them or find a way to restore them. Missing items are everything

above the file pane, including the file, edit, view, favorites and help tool

bar/pull downs and the next tool bar with the back and forward , search,

floder level up, and folders buttons. This is frustrating and hinders my

navigation, can anyone explain how to restore these and how top prevent this

from happening. - I run Windows XP64 professional.

Thanks, Paul

Would help if you said what system you are running. Assuming 64-bit is it

Vista or XP

Re: Address bar and options is missing

Oops. It's windows XP. I've been running it for over a year. This issue

began in July and now has reached the point that I can't navigate windows

files effectively, set file/folder attributes, etc. Further, right now,

Windows explorer first comes up with the folder list along side the contents

of the selected drive/folder and has no tool bars across the top as I've

described. If you close the folder list, a panel opens up with three sub

panels:

- file and folder tasks (make a new, publish folder to the web, share

folder),

- Other places panel (Desktop, Shared Documents, My Computer, My Network

Places)

- and a Details Panel (with detail;s of the selected object/folder).

Once I'm in this state with the window, I can find no way to re-open the

folders list for navigation.

Got to be a way to fix this. Appreciate any help. - Paul
