Guest Robbie Hatley Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 The little loudspeaker icon that used to be in my system tray (the one that launches the volume-control panel) disappeared. I'm sure there's some simple way to get it back, but I haven't been able to figure out how. Anyone know how to get it back? -- Cheers, Robbie Hatley lone wolf aatt well dott com triple-dubya dott tustin free zone dott org
Guest John John Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Re: How do I fix missing volume control in system tray? Make sure that the file Sndvol32.exe is in the winnt\System32 folder. If the file is missing look in the dllcache folder for a copy or extract it from your Windows 2000 CD. If the file is in the System32 folder see if the information here can help: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000208.htm John Robbie Hatley wrote: > The little loudspeaker icon that used to be in my system tray > (the one that launches the volume-control panel) disappeared. > I'm sure there's some simple way to get it back, but I > haven't been able to figure out how. Guest David Webb Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Re: How do I fix missing volume control in system tray? Open Control Panel > Sounds and Multimedia. On the bottom of the Sounds tab enable(check) the option "Show volume control on taskbar". Click on Apply and OK your way out. If it's checked than do as John John suggested.

Guest Robbie Hatley Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Re: How do I fix missing volume control in system tray? Thanks to John John, David Webb, and ByTor for your replies to my query re. missing loudspeaker icon in system tray. Yep, the "show icon in system tray" checkbox in the "Sound" settings was unchecked. I'd never even noticed that control before. Thanks for the solution. (Sorry about my blank reply of a few minutes ago. Either my mouse or my Outlook Express is malfunctioning, because quite often a single click on "Reply" also activates the "Send" button which pops up immediately at the same screen location. I just moved my toolbars so that "Send" now pops up at a different location.) -- Cheers, Robbie Hatley lone wolf aatt well dott com triple-dubya dott tustin free zone dott org
