Telephony service will not start

I went to the Telephony service and clicked Start. It said error 1053

Telephony service could not start. So peformed a search for svchost.exe and

found the file in C:Windows\system32. I wonder why it wouldn't start. What

should I do?

Re: Telephony service will not start

Check the status of these Services:

Plug and Play

Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

DCOM Server Process Launcher

They should all be set to Automatic and Started. The Telephony Service

depends on them.

Re: Telephony service will not start

Thank you for replying to my post.

All three services, required for Telephony to start are running and they did

start automatically. Alaso, evice Manager shows the modem is enable and

ready. Might I have the Telphony shut-off?

Re: Telephony service will not start

Hi Jane,

I have a notebook on which Telephony is running. When I compare the path to

executable there is a diiference. The one that works says,

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs. The one that doesn't work says,

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k tapisrv
