Vista x64 vs ERDNT

Those of you who use ERDNT to automatically backup registry

files will understand how it bugs me not being able to get that

program to function under Vista x64. I get the following message

as each element of the registry is to be written:

RegCreateKeyEx:5 Access Denied

There are no related entries in the event files.

I've verified that the directories I use for archiving ERDNT

files and contents are not write protected.

Aside from this stumbling block, I've had a remarkably easy

install of this system on a low-budget platform. Matter of fact,

it was easier than any Windows OS that I've installed.

Any help in sorting this glitch out would be appreciated. I've

got a sneaky suspicion that it might be related to Live OneCare.

Actually you should be addressing your problem to

http://www.aumha.org since the program is not a Microsoft program.

Also, according to the information on the web site at

http://www.aumha.org/free.htm the program predates Vista by

at least a year, 10/20/2005, and apparently is not

compatible with Vista.

Re: Vista x64 vs ERDNT

P.S.

Part of the information for ERDNT states: "Neither is for

Windows Vista! (AumHa.org is an official mirror site for

ERUNT and NTRegOpt. Click on his name above if you prefer to

download directly from the author’s Web page.)"

I would presume that really means it will not run on Vista.

There's conflicting information:

http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

Being the optimist, I always look for the silver lining.

I suppose I should take a hint from the site you cited and the

errors I received. Guess I'll have to find a work-around.
