Guest Homer J. Simpson Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I've noticed this new annoyance in Explorer, which seems to have started a few weeks ago. I don't get it *all* the time, but suffice it to say it's getting on my nerves. You know how you typically click on a file in details view, scroll down with the mouse's scrollwheel, and shift-click on another file to select all those files between the first and last items clicked? Nowadays, the instant I hit the Shift key (before I have a chance to click the left mouse button on the second item), the details view repositions itself (vertically) so the first item that was selected scrolls back in view. Meaning, I have to scroll back down a second time where I was, and hit the Shift key again to select the item I was about to click. The second time around that I hit the Shift key, the list doesn't scroll (as it should). Hitting the Shift key repeatedly after that doesn't make it scroll again either--only the first time. I can't remember exactly how long I've had that, but it's been there since before this month's Patch Tuesday...I suspect it *might* have been introduced in last month's. I only have one machine running XP x64, and I haven't seen this behavior on the x86 version. Anyone else seeing this?
Guest Tony Sperling Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Re: Minor XP annoyance It's almost hard to imagine it could be anything else than a sticky key phenomenon, or possibly a mangled cable??? I know no better than that it has always existed in the form of a "feature", rather than a bug. IMO, this is in fact a bug, but Microsoft isn't willing to fix it. Or so it seems. -- Martijn Saly

If this was some sort of hardware failure, I'd think I would see it in more than just Explorer...
