Guest Khoshravan Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 REcently I reinstalled windows2000 in my laptop which is old and cant bear windows XP. IE version is 5.0 for this OS. Now I have problem installing Adobe Acrobat Reader and my modem and it requires me to upgrade my IE to at least 5.5. (Although I cant understand the relation between Adobe Acrobat Reader and Modem installation and version of IE). I searched Internet but I couldnt find any solution on how to upgrade my IE 5.0. Another problem is that, same problem arises for installing my modem so I can not connect my laptop to Internet. I have to download the requred stuff in other computer and copy them to my laptop. Is there any solution to install Acrobat Reader to my old laptop? -- Rasoul Khoshravan Azar Kobe University, Kobe, Japan

Guest David Webb Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Re: how to upgrade IE 5.0 to 5.5 You can download older versions from this web site: Old Versions Available of Internet Explorer http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=msie Note: DO NOT download v7.0 for your Win2K system since it's not compatible. Guest Khoshravan Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Re: how to upgrade IE 5.0 to 5.5 Thanks for your replies. I have ver 5.0. Isn't it possible to download only the upgrade. ver 6 is 76.7 MB and very big for my slow Internet connection. -- Rasoul Khoshravan Azar Kobe University, Kobe, Japan "David Webb" wrote: > You can download older versions from this web site: > > Old Versions Available of Internet Explorer > http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=msie > > Note: DO NOT download v7.0 for your Win2K system since it's not compatible. > > "Khoshravan" <khoshravan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:22FAF366-5499-4829-86A5-6B38EFFA715B@microsoft.com... > > REcently I reinstalled windows2000 in my laptop which is old and cant bear > > windows XP. Guest John John Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Re: how to upgrade IE 5.0 to 5.5 76.7 MB is the complete IE package for all Windows versions. The IE6 package for Windows 2000 is about 12MB. You can download only the packgage for Windows 2000: http://www.compu-docs.com/ieadmininstall.htm or you can ugrade it online and it will only download the needed files and components for your Windows version. IE 5.5 (and others) are also available for download here: http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit John Khoshravan wrote: > Thanks for your replies. > I have ver 5.0. Guest David Webb Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Re: how to upgrade IE 5.0 to 5.5 Another approach would be to find someone that has the Microsoft CD for IE6 SP1 and borrow it. This CD is still available from Microsoft, but only for delivery in the U.S. and Canada. FWIW, here's the link to order the CD: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/ordercd/default.mspx As an alternative, you may want to consider installing an earlier version of the Acrobat Reader. I found the system requirements for the standard edition of version 6.0 specifies Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher, so I assume that applies to the reader also. You can download version 6.0 or 6.01 from this site: http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=acrobat Good Luck! Guest GO Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Re: how to upgrade IE 5.0 to 5.5 Or even another approach could be to use a third-party pdf reader, there are many out there. I'm using Foxit Reader at the moment, it works very well, it's free of all the bloat that's become of many Adobe products, and it's free! http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php David Webb wrote: > Another approach would be to find someone that has the Microsoft CD > for IE6 SP1 and borrow it.
