Return back to 32bit

[Guest Andreas]

I am setting up an HP Laptop with AMD Turion processor which didn't have a

Windows CD when purchased. During initial setup, I selected the Windows

Vista 64x option. Later, I faced many compatibility issues and I want to

switch back to 32-bit Vista. There was no cd supplied for HP or Windows. How

can I re-install the 32-bit option?. I selected the recovery option of HP

but this just wiped off the disc and installed the same 64bit os.

You need to ask HP Tech Support about your situation. Each

vendor has their individual customizations. You're asking

an HP specific question, not a Windows XP x64 question.

It's not a Vista x64 problem either.

I know this. This is a public place and many people here use hp and might

have faced the situation. Since HP support sucks, this is the best place to

find a solution.

The problem is that you have a one-time choice between 32-bit and 64-bit.

Because this is an OEM copy, you don't have both. (If it were a retail copy

of Vista, you would be able to switch. But not with OEM)

 

Some users have reported that some OEM are offering a switch option if you

ask. The alternative is to buy another copy of Vista and install it as

32-bit. Theo was actually pointing you at the right place, since it's your

only hope of saving yourself that cost.
