Guest Beasel Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Regardless of application running, my system repeatedly hangs up. A look at the Task Manager status indicates that one, or more, of the open apps is/are "not responding". The Process page shows that the "System Idle process" is the only thing active. Performance is at 1% or less. I run McAfee and run OneCare. And, have cleaned the registry often. Cleared cookies and temp files. And, defragged the disk. Six year old Dell x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 10 system, 128meg Ram, not upgradable. Opening the Task Manager seems to clear the problem temporarily but that may be a coincidence. Happening many many times an hour. Used for surfing, email, writing, and small spread sheets. No games or resource eaters. -- Old computer guy with new problems!
Guest Bob I Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Re: System slowdown-win2000 svcpak 4 OneCare is not supported on that system, operating system or hardware wise. try uninstalling it and see if things perk up.
