Guest yosef ung Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Windows message appears everytime I sign on to my PC. Windows cannot find “C:\WINDOWS\sembako-dezjlmh.exe” Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. How do I get rid of this.??
Guest Carlos Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 RE: Issue with "C:Windows\sembako..." message. Yosef: Run msconfig. Press Windows Key and R simultaneously. Type msconfig and press <ENTER> Go to the startup tab and uncheck the entry that calls the offending program. Accept and reboot. That should fix it. Guest John Barnes Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: Issue with "C:Windows\sembako..." message. Sembako is associated with an e-mail worm, so have you run your anti-virus? Guest Carlos Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: Issue with "C:Windows\sembako..." message. Re: Issue with "C:Windows\sembako..." message. Robert: I am using the web based newsreader and see no problems in the post. As a matter of fact there is another guy with this problem here: http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-2253520-probleme-apres-devirussag-de-mon-pc The page is in french and that is why I didn't make any mention before because I thought it would not be useful to the poster. Guest Carlos Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: Issue with "C:Windows\sembako..." message. John: From what I've read here: http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-2253520-probleme-apres-devirussag-de-mon-pc (sorry for the french language) this is what happens after running an antivirus and wiping out Sembako. It seems that the cleanup leaves an entry either in the registry (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run) or the Startup programs group still pointing to a wiped out file. Guest John Barnes Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: Issue with "C:Windows\sembako..." message. Your suggestion would then be a good one, but certainly if in the Start group I would delete it, if the registry, I personally would delete the entry, but someone not comfortable could just disable it as you suggested.
