Guest Developer Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I have Win2kPro SP4 and I want to set the main HD for compression. It's only 30gigs and I am just using it for VHD's on VPC 2004. My objective is to use VPC for multimedia (watching videos on the internet, other for browsing the internet ang another for testing new software, becuase I don't wont to clutter up my main drive with spyware, etc and left over uninstalled software fragments. Will I encounter any problems with my HD being in compress mode?
Guest Newbie Coder Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Re: Enable Compression on main HD?... Developer, Why are you using a 30 Gb HDD now anyway? Right-click the drive | Properties & 'compress drive to save disk space' checkbox is checked Obviously you will lose a minimal amount of performance through compression. One way to know for sure is try & see. Me persoanlly would get a bigger drive which you can do very cheaply -- Newbie Coder (It's just a name) "Developer" <development@biblescholarsoftware.net> wrote in message news:OHQ4H4W4HHA.5724@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > I have Win2kPro SP4 and I want to set the main HD for compression. Guest Eric Miller Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Re: Enable Compression on main HD?... Thanks Newbie, but I now how to compress the drive and even when I get a larger one I still want to compress the drive. But, found out that you can't compress the whole drive including folder because of the file system files. So I just compress the folder and all it's content that contain the VHD's. This is my old PIII I just want to utilize for something as a small server for stuff. Nothing biggy.
