Guest Reg Garbett Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses Hi Daave I have tried just everything recommended by the members replying to my question and none of the things work. Consequently I have given up trying to get a resolution and will not bother with it any further. I believe the ccleaner will work ok for internet explorer but not on MSN explorer. Using MSN address bar and going to wesites while using internet explorer no scroll down occurs to show the previous sites that I have been to. The problem appears to be peculiar to MSN explorer. Thanks again for your time and suggestions Regards -- Reg Garbett "Daave" wrote: > Reg Garbett wrote: > > I use MSN rather than internet explorer. > > MSN Explorer is basically a shell around the Internet Explorer broswer. > > > When I enter an address i.e. > > google in the address bar and then click on the green "search web" I > > can go to the site without problem. I put the cursor over one of the addresses and the address turned blue in color. I right clicked the address and I believe a scroll down came up which showed a delete action. I clicked on it and nothing happened. I then went to my keyboard and held down the delete button. Immediately it ran thru each address and cleared each one. Guest Gary S. Terhune Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses In Control Panel, there is an item called Taskbar and Start Menu (switch Control Panel to Classic view to see it more easily.) Open that, then click on the Start Menu tab at top. Click on the Customize button next to the menu style that you have ticked, then click either the Clear or the Clear List button. It's a LOT faster than your method, which we recommend to edit the list rather than clear it completely. -- Gary S. Guest Reg Garbett Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses I tried one last thing in an effort to clear the addresses. I put the cursor over an address and it turned blue in color. Right clicking on the address brought up a scroll down which had a delete function on it. I cliked on it and nothing happened. So I went to the keyboard and held down the delete button and immediately it ran through each one in succession and eliminated them all. Now when I enter an address the scroll down does not come up as there are no addresses left. Again thank you for your assistance. Guest Reg Garbett Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses Anote to advise you that I was able to finally get the addresses deleted. I put the cursor over an address and it turned into a blue color. I right clicked and a scroll down showed delete so clicked on it and nothing happened. I did this a day or so back. Thought that I would try it again however the same happened. This time however after putting the cursor on an address and having it turn a blue color I pressed my delete button on my keyboard and immediately it ran through all addresses deleting each one. I entered an address in the address bar and no scroll down came up. All addresses were gone. Thank you for your time and consideration in trying to help me with this problem. I couldn't believe that such a simple thing actually deleted all the addresses. Thank you again for your time and interest. Guest Reg Garbett Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses Hi Gary. I tried your below suggestion and found the Taskbar and Start Menu under Appearances & Themes in the control panel. It appears that by using the clear button it will clear the list of items on my start menu. I am curious as to what this would have to do with the addresses problem which as I advised previously has been resolved. Regards -- Reg Garbett "Gary S. Guest Gary S. Terhune Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses My bad... Click on the Advanced tab and then click the Clear List button. Sorry about that. I seldom see and don't use that new menu, I use the Classic one. If that doesn't wipe all the places you want wiped, then go to Internet Options, Content tab, Autocomplete button. -- Gary S. Guest Reg Garbett Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Re: Removing search addresses I sent you a note last night but I guess that you didn't get it. I advised you that I finally got the addresses deleted.I put the cursor over an address and it turned a blue color. I did this a few days ago and if I remember correctly a scroll down came up with the one of the words shown as delete. I had clicked on this before and nothing happened. This time I did the same thing only I pressed and held the delete button on my keyboard and immediately it scrolled thru all the addresses and deleted every one. I then entered a website and this time there was no scroll down of addresses. A simple resolution to this problem. Very frustrating after all you and the other contributors provided in time and energy to assist me.Again thank you for your assistance. I hope that you receive this message this time. Guest Reg Garbett Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 RE: Removing search addresses Hi nass I sent you a message last night and it looks like you never received it. I want to advise you that after all the help that you provided I finally got the addresses deleted by a very simple method. A few days ago I put the cursor over an address and it turned a blue color. If I remember a scroll down came up and contained the word delete and I clicked on it and nothing happened so didn't try again. To-nite I tried it again only this time I pressed and held down the delete button on my keyboard. Immediately it ran thru all addresses and deleted them all. I entered a web address in the MSN address bar and this time there was no scroll down of addresses. I was really ticked to find such an easy solution after all the time you took to assist me with this problem. However I did learn a lot from you and it is very much appreciated. I have kept a print out of our correspondence for future reference. Why I was never able to delete the addresses via clicking on delete is beyond me and frustrating to find it did not work but did using the keyboard.Again thank you for all your time and effort that you put in to assist me. It is very much appreciated. I hope that you received this message this time.
