Guest travis calder Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 i had installed this Vista tcpip.sys Connection Limit Patch apparantly the update makes it show up as not digitally signed and blocks it RePLACED the tcpip.sys file in system32/drivers folder with another unmodified file http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate&tid=cc6ad856-2be2-408a-b172-78148ef4ea8e&p=1

Guest Carlos Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 RE: GOT IT WORKING- compatibility update kills network Travis: The patched tcpip.sys is not digitally signed. Until this compatibility update there were easy ways to permanently disabling signature checks. That way your system could load the patched one without complaining. The compatibility update disabled definitely all known workarounds and now signature check is enabled. After the update your patched tcpip.sys would not load because Vista banned it for being not digitally signed. You should also have had problems with your network (a red cross on the network icon) Restoring the original tcpip.sys returns networking to its normal state but you have again the max connections/sec problem (event ID 4226 logs in event viewer). So, back to square one!
