MS Provider OLE DB for Oracle on W 2003 S 64b

Hi everybody!

Friends, I'm not able to make a connection from W2003S 64b to Oracle 9i or

10g version, I've already instaled the oracle clients of both version, but it

does't stablish the comunication (using OLE DB driver or creating an UDL

connection).

I saw some websites that showed me somethings about path directory using

parentesys (Program Files (x86) for exemple) and some ways to install the

oracle clients, but all my tests returned fail.

Nota: The TNSPING is running normaly and this connection runs in a 32b OS.

Can someone help me or has already seen something like this?

Tks

You are installing the specific x64 Oracle OLEDB provider, right?

http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/64-bit/index.html

This suggests you're using the 32-bit provider, which will only be visible

(on x64) to 32-bit applications. 64-bit applications need the 64-bit

provider.

Hi Steve ...

yes, I intalled "Oracle10g Release 2 ODAC (64-bit) 10.2.0.3 for Windows x64"

version, I donwloaded it in the same link your sent me.

This beravior occurs when I try creating a Linked Server or using the SSIS,

it's blocking my upgrade to SQL Server 2005 version.

Is your application 32-bit or 64-bit?

64-bit applications use 64-bit drivers, 32-bit applications need 32-bit

drivers.

So if your application is 32-bit, you'll need the 32-bit client installed

as well.

Steve, hi!

It's 64-bit, I downloaded and installed the Oracle Client 10g, but it didn't

run, I read something about it and the articles say that the path using "("

and ")" was the problem...
