Guest Ryan Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Hello, I recently bought a two new 500GB drives and have them hooked up to a Rosewill RAID card (RC-209) in RAID1. Windows 2000 sees a single 500GB drive and all is good. I created a new partition format the drive with 512 cluster size, and when finished I have working disk that show 180MB of used space in 3 files. I only know there are three files because of disk defrag. The same method shows the MFT is only about 27KB. So a few questions: 1) What are the three files (is MFT one of these?) 2) Which is taking up 180MB? 3) Since I thought OS files were not included in used-space calculations, why am I showing used space. 4) Is there a way to view the files? Thanks! Ryan

I even tried a directory scan using the /ah and /as attribute. No files or directories show, but the system information windows on the left shows 180megs of disk used. I even tried a slow format. What file would be so big on a newly formatted drive and why is there no trace?!
