Guest Icarus - iD_Ten_T helper Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Hi, If I run the sfc command on a Win2K server (SBS) and it needs the CD, will I need to re-install SP4 again afterwards as it restores the old versions of the all the files? does SFC only keep track of the originally installed files? Ic
Guest David Webb Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Re: System File Checker You need to create a new CD with the SP4 changes incorporated and use it when running SFC. Here's an excellent utility to perform the slipstreaming of SP4: Autostreamer http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Autostreamer-Download-13918.html Here's a how-to for WinXP for reference: http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/slipstream.htm Info about SFC: Description of the Windows 2000 System File Checker (Sfc.exe) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;222471 "Icarus - iD_Ten_T helper" <ignoranceisbliss@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1188376080.284939.94860@r34g2000hsd.googlegroups.com... > Hi, > > If I run the sfc command on a Win2K server (SBS) and it needs the CD, > will I need to re-install SP4 again afterwards as it restores the old > versions of the all the files? does SFC only keep track of the > originally installed files? > > Ic >
Guest John John Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Re: System File Checker Point it (SFC) to the SP4 I386 directory for the setup directory, it will get the files from that directory instead of the CD. Registry settings for Windows File Protection http://support.microsoft.com/kb/222473/ More information can be found in the search results here: http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&q=sfc+location+of+files Post SP4 hotfixes may need to be reapplied.
