I sent a couple of older IBM Thinkpad laptops out to some customers in the

field. Both had Windows 2000 installed. Before I shipped them out, I

downloaded current Norton antivirus signatures and also checked the Windows

Update site to ensure both systems were up to date. I get a call today that

one of the users is receiving a message to insert the Windows 2000 CD. I

didn't send that with her. Anyone know how I can disable this or correct it

without having to interact with her? Would a generic Windows 2000 Pro CD

work? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: Windows 2000 Pro Troubleshooting

Hello Paul,

Normally it only asks for the cd if something will be installed additional.

What do you mean with Generic cd? The easiest part will be if you copy the

i386 from the installation disk to the harddisk from the laptop. Then if

something will be installed additional you can point to that folder for the

install files.

Best regards
