Guest Phisherman Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I have a LAN with Win98, WinXP and Win 2000. I can I eliminate the login window to the Win2000 Pro PC from the Win98 or WinXP PC? The password in the Win2000 PC is blank, but the name must be entered. I'd like to eliminate this login window on the Win 2000 Pro machine, if possible. Thanks.

Double-click "Users and Passwords" in the Control Panel, then untick the box that requires users to enter a password.

Under "Users and Passwords" I see an unchecked box: [ ] Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. This has always been unchecked. I am still getting a required login window for the PC running Windows 2000 Pro with SP4 installed. Is there another way to fix this annoyance?

Is > there another way to fix this annoyance? > Some people call it an "annoyance", others call it "flexibility" because it lets you chose which way you want to run the show. Tick the check box, click OK, then reboot the machine. Now go back to this panel, click the preferred user, then untick the check box and click OK. Enter the correct password for this user when prompted, then reboot the machine. If this still fails to work, download and install TweakUI from the Microsoft site. It offers the same facility.
