Internet Explorer Proxy Settings

For my Internet explorer LAN Settings (Tools > Internet Options >

Connections > LAN Settings), I have "Automatically detect settings"

checked and that is it. How can I figure out what it's automatically

detecting?

I decided to re-phrase my question.

 

Where in Windows does it cache data about the logged in user?

 

I'm thinking that Windows is caching my data, thus overriding a group

policy change that I should be recieving (and other people)
