XP-64 Vs Vista for audio editing

I need to upgrade my PC to a 64 bit enviroment for my audio editing

workstation.

I use Sonar7 , its written for 64 bit software . I don't use the internet

on this workstation . It's is just a complex audio editing computer .

 

Will xp-64 work as well as Vista ? I have an AMD dual Opteron .

 

Please let me know if you can help me with this question .

Cakewalk (a.k.a.: the author of the software) makes no mention of Vista x64

compatibility here:

It only speaks about Windows XP x64.

The point of this post is to ask anyone that might know , if xp64 is a better

solution than Vista64 for editing audio in a work station situation .

 

I was informed by a tech at Lynx studio that Vista has some issues with

sample rates ect. Also Vista seems to have a lot of unwanted features that

are not needed for someone that is useing a workstation. So , what is the

benifit of buying Vista over XP64 ?

 

As for Sonar 7 : It will run on as either one as will Sonar 6 . Sonar is

not the issue .

There are changes to the way audio is implemented in Vista.

 

Before you choose Vista, make sure your sound devices have fully x64 Vista

compliant drivers and all the features you need are implemented and working.

 

Sonar shouldn't be a problem but your sound device drivers might be.
