OT #2 - Dreamscene update available for Vista Ultimate

Dreamscene is available for download for Vista Ultimate owners.

Is it really worth or is it just a fancy gizmo?

How often do you see your desktop. Do you desire to watch a short looping

nature scene when you do see it. You can stop the motion when not desired,

and on my machine, save about 4% usage on one core of the cpu.

It is currently beta, is blocked every time explorer crashes (if yours does

like mine) and will probably be very annoying when they add the sound.

Several are relaxing to watch while taking a break.

What little I've seen of it seems to be nice looking but more or less

totally unproductive - counter this with the Linux 'Compiz' OpenGL variant

(the Cube!), which is filled with extraordinary eye-candy that is more or

less totally productive - the only thing that's missing is a compatible

sound-theme.

For Windows, I make my own wallpapers and they are all 'out-of-focus'

images. Very nice!

Hi John,

Dreamscene already has sound - it is muted by default. Turn it on via the

mixer ;-)

It can indeed by very irritating. Of course, you can use your own movie

clips instead. Or not ;)

Jane, not plain ;) 64 bit enabled :-)

Batteries not included. Braincell on vacation ;-)

A great way to waste CPU cycles, whether you have them to waste or not. AND,

at the same time, you can irritate yourself.

Thanks everyone for the advices.

I think I will skip this update for now.

I concur with Charlie about the waste of CPU cycles.

I had tried several and no sound here. The update still has no sound I can

access. I do have the sound mixer panel, which I have adjusted several

times. It has never shown as muted, unless I set it muted to test.

I have to disagree with most here,I like it.My favorite is the waterfall.

Wish I had a mixer to get sound.{:-(.Sometimes a little distraction is

welcome.

I'm an old-school Windows Classic/no wallpaper user, so I can't say I find

the thought of an animated desktop to be particularly appealing. :-D
