Screen Saver won't change

Recommended Posts

I am running MS Windows 2000, SP4. I try to change the screen saver by

going into Control Panel - Display - Screen Saver. I increase the time from

15 minutes to anything else and hit Apply. The new number shows up.

But after hitting OK and then coming back to Sreen Saver, the original

screen saver value is back

How do I change the screen saver?

These things are invariably caused by you having insufficient

access to the respective registry key. Run regedit.exe to

find out where this time is stored, then run regedt32.exe

to check/modify the permission to it.

Take a look at;

"ScreenSaveTimeOut"="180"

(time in seconds before activation)

found at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
