Kue2:

For the moment being, stay away from Soundblaster cards.

Drivers are still not mature enough.

Some features are still missing from those present in another OS's.

Just take a look at their Vista specific forums

http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board?board.id=Vista

and you will see what I mean.

Insatisfaction level there is at maximum.

My recomendation, stick with the embedded audio in the motherboard until the

soundcard manufacturers get it right.

Vista changed radically the sound subsystem and that's the reason why good

drivers (and cards) are so difficult to find.

Thanks - just checked, Win2K, XP, Vista O.K., no 64bit at all!

I used to think they had good drivers. . .

Re: Sound card reconmendation for Vista 64

Only support for WinXP 64

Audio Advantage SRM - FAQs

All files and documentation are offered on an *AS IS* basis and you

assume full responsibility for using them.

64 bit Drivers & Support

64-bit Technology was first introduced in high-end server systems such as

those employing the Intel Xeon, Itanium and AMD Opteron CPUs. The "x64"

architecture is now showing up in consumer-level systems, which are

supported

by Microsoft Windows XP Pro x64 Edition and Windows Vista x64.

While these are readily available, they are still aimed at power-users and

those who need more power than standard-issue PCs can offer. Voyetra Turtle

Beach products are aimed at mainstream PC users for home entertainment

purposes, so we steer our resources to these more 'user-friendly' aspects of

home computing.

- At this time, we provide 64-bit driver support for the Audio Advantage

products in Windows XP x64 Edition *only* *NOT FOR VISTA 64*.

Thank you for your support of Turtle Beach products!

They seem to be a shadow of their old selves. Only one half-way decent sound

card shown. Seems like old technology.

Yes. The Auzentech X_Meridian 7.1 soundcard is superb. All working 64 bit

drivers. I am using it on my Vista 64 Premium. You wont be dissapointed. Its

an Audiophiles dream. Games run brill too!
