I've had 3 computers in the past week come in with blank blue desktops (no

icons, no taskbars, no start button) just blank blue with a cursor arrow.

Two machines were Win 2K sp4 with all updates, 1 was Win XP home sp2.

I can use CTRL-ALT-DEL to get the task manager and run programs/tasks and

have scanned all 3 for viruses/spyware and all 3 came up clean on HJT.

Anyone have any ideas on the cause/solution ?

Thanks for any replies

Re: Blank Blue Desktop

Thanks Steve,

That did the trick. I wish Microsoft would fix the search engine in the KB.

I've been searching for a week with search key "blank desktop" and get

everything but this article.

Thanks again

Re: Blank Blue Desktop

That's odd, I find that it's the very first one on the list of 200+

articles.

Re: Blank Blue Desktop

Use Google instead.

The MSKB article was the second item listed, using only "blank desktop" as the

criteria.
