space used. but when i highlight all files on c: (including system and

hidden) it only comes up to 29gb. my page file is only 1.5gb any ideas?

There can be lots of things using that extra space, including snapshots. In

part it could also be a reflection of a lot of very small files on a drive

with too large a cluster size.

I suggest going to Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup

first, and have it remove any of the accumulated 'junk' that is left behind.

Such things are usually spread around the system - this is the easiest way

to get rid of it (almost!) all.

Then, let's see how bad it is?

Re: hard drive space

Hi:

"You can do" # 1

Right-click on the recycler bin on the desktop, choose properties and reduce

its size to something you feel comfortable with.

You may regain a few gigabytes from there.

"You can do " # w

Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon and choose Properties.

Reduce the temporary files size to, let's say, 50 megabytes.

and Shadow Copies.

Re: hard drive space

You can turn off System Restore if you want, but I would strongly advise you

not to do so.

If you turn System Restore off and anything happens to make your system

unbootable you would be left with only the Recovery Console, which I doubt

you have the knowledge to use effectively, or a Repair Install of Windows,

which does not always work if the system has been badly corrupted.

Unless you need the disk space for data you should leave the settings as

they are. The System Restore Points are automatically managed and do not

expand indefinitely to fill all available disk space.
