I try to google and search the forums here for an answer to a question that someone else has asked -- before I start a new thread.

When I type a subject, like: " Recovery Disks" I'm taken to a long list of threads here that may contain a reference to Recovery Disks. Unfortuately, the title seldom reflects what I'm looking for. It may say something like Help Me! Or some other unrelated discription.

This results in a lot of time spent reading all of each and every post and waiting for pages to load. (This website is very slow to load pages on my computer, for some reason.)

Is there a more efficient way than how I'm doing it now?

I'll wait for a reply here before I start the next thread looking for information.

Far to late here to get into this in detail. You may want to try to do a tag search. Tags are generally added after the fact and sometimes get you more pertinent information.

We do not give heading to the threads but try our best to move them to the proper forum when they are not properly placed.

As Barry says Struggling, it is far too late to rename threads to inflict their problems. Renaming a thread is a simple process but with the number of threads in each Forum, not withstanding the archives, the sheer amount will take a toll on the Staff.

The best way to get around your problem is to try and use keywords that are uncommon (but related) and mix them with your search query. For example, recovery disks are often used to restore the computer to factory settings, so you might want to try Recovery Factory Settings. This will refine the search results better and you will get more relevant threads.

The above tip is generally used for Search Engines like Google and once you get the hang of it, you can practically search for anything you like.

Hope that helps. :)

I can find anything I want using google, etc. And I usually do well with searches of other websites. Just coinsidence here, I guess. Anyway, I tried your suggestion, Goku, with no better result. No bigee. :)

I keep running across references to "Recovery Disks". But never any details. Just wanted to find out...

(I'll continue this in another thread, with a title that may help a future searcher...)

What we need is a full time staff but, oh well!

Please just post your concerns or just what you want to know and a genie appears and gives you answers.

Ok, beeceebee. I've been a member of many forums, on many subjects, over the years.

Quite a few of them get VERY ticked off if something is asked that has been answered before. " Do a search of previous postings before you ask, you ninny!!!" is what they say.

Guess I'm a little gun shy from that. :)

Well, if you are searching for instructions on making a recovery disk, then you will be hard put as there are not many threads with instructions on how to make a recovery disk. Please let us know what exactly you are looking for and we will try to locate a relevant thread for you.
