"COPY" utility in Windows 2000 seems to work asynchronously

When I copy a big file(e.g.,200 MB) file from harddisk to usb key, in

Windows XP, "copy c:\bigfile g:" will not return immediately, while in

Windows 2000, "copy c:\bigfile g:" returns immediately.

 

My question: I want to let "copy c:\bigfile g:" do NOT return

immediately in Windows 2000. In anther word, I want it retunes only

when the data is actually copied to USB Key. Is it possible?
