Control panel - Display

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden my W2k is acting funny. My background is a picture from a

digital folder. When I go to Control Panel - Display, on the background menu

there are no options that I can use. I can change nothing. All other portions

of Display seem to be operable, all except Background. In addition the icon

that were previously to the right of the Start icon on the screen are gone.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hello TKHaw,

Is the computer a domain member? Then talk to the admins, if they have implemented

some policies.

Best regards

Hello TKHaw,

In a run line type gpedit.msc and check the settings, maybe something is

configured there.

Best regards

Sounds like someone in your house is pulling a prank on you.. But I've

never seen it have the Background tab still there but everything in it

disabled. I can tell you how to get the tab back if it's actually

gone.. To get the Background tab back, go to start | run and type in

gpedit.msc, under "User Configuration" go to "Administrative

Templates", "Control Panel", "Display" and double click on "Hide

Background tab", and select "Disabled".

For the Quick Launch icons, it's easier. Right click on your taskbar

(not start button or a program button) and go to "toolbars" and click

on "Quick Launch".

Re: Control panel - Display

All the item under DISPLAY say Not Configured. I clicked on Disable and this

made no change, Background still does not let me do anything and the options

that are given (but unavailable) are different than those I have had for

years.

Puzzling, any other suggestions ?
