Guest Roger Fink Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I'm having two unrelated problems with Windows Explorer that ought to be solvable. First, for the file "Loceal Settings", the checkbox for "Hidden" refuses to stay unchecked beyond more than the current session. Once the system is rebooted, the option is automatically rechecked, even though I'm the administrator this is the profile I use every day. This is true for my desktop only; my W2K laptop doesn't have this problem. Also, in the right hand pane of Windows Explorer the column heading widths can be set by right-clicking the heading, selecting "More", and then specifying in the width. The default folder/file column width is way too short, at least for me, so I've done just that for about five folders. That leaves many hundreds more to do. I've tried some stupid activities on a computer, this would be in the running for the stupidest. How can I change the column width as a system default setting? A registry hack is quite acceptable, but shame on Microsoft if I have to resort to that for soemthing so basic. TIA
