Guest cnuzum Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Re: Cannot find C:\..exe. Windows needs thi file to run C:\.exe Solution to the problem: "cannot find X:/.xxxx windows needs this file to run X:/xxxxx" I know this is an old post, but I just had the same problem and through a roundabout way, found the solution in Microsofts' KnowledgeBase. I was missing, (due to a virus I think) the file ntvdm.exe in \system32, I replaced it with a copy from my cache (I did a search and found 3 different copies on my computer) and the problem is gone! It seems that this file, and some registry entries, are needed for running MS-DOS or 16-bit applications. If you are interested, a link to the KB is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/220159 There they are talking about purposely disabling 16-bit applications! Regards, cnuzum -- cnuzum
