Guest Johnny Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Okay, I know I'm a doofus for getting locked out of the administrator account but I'm wondering if there's anything smart I can do now. I took a machine off the domain and when it restarted the administrator account wouldn't work. My instinct is to just prep a new disk for the machine, run the old disk as data drive to capture user settings/ datafiles.

Guest John John Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Re: locked out of administrator You're welcome. Accounts and passwords provide only limited security, if your files are very sensitive then you have to physically secure the computer or the hard drive itself. For future reference keep in mind that if you have encrypted files using password cracking or reset utilities will cause you to lose access to the files, your encryption key will no longer be valid after you use these password reset utilities.
