Guest bob53 in pa Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 About 4 days ago my PC shut down during the day. When it was rebooted we logged on as administrator, as always, but it was like logging on to a total new screen. I did not have any of my documents, my sons i tunes, and when we went in to word, excel etc. it said "welcome to" like it was the first time we used it. I can find the documents etc. in my computer but when when we start it is not the same screen as we have had before. It is like a different user. I hope my description is clear enough for someone to help.
Guest Dave Patrick Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Re: Start up Sounds like the profile is corrupt. You can use the steps in this article to replace the local administrator profile. User Profile May Become Corrupted After You Perform a Clean Windows 2000 Installation http://support.microsoft.com/?id=296834 You can copy over the items you need from the orphaned profile. Copy the folder contents not the folders themselves. Use the import function of your e-mail software (import the *.pst) -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Guest Dave Patrick Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Re: Start up The date/time stamp on %userprofile%\ntuser.dat should indicate the one you we're most recently using. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup.
