Wireless routers & their software for XP64

I'm wanting to buy a wireless ADSL modem router of the pre N

specification and have emailed the question of whether the h/ware and

s/ware will work with XP 64 to one of the manufacturers (Buffalo) but

would appreciate the views of members of this group based on their

experience, hopefully.

Buffalo's web site says they'll soon have support for Vista - but

fails to mention whether 64 bit or just 32 bit.

I would add that my only experience is of wired routers and that's

limited.

If you connect x64 via the ethernet port you don't need any

software drivers. If you connect via USB, then you're

probably S.O.L.

Always choose an ADSL or Cable Modem that uses Ethernet and you should have

no problems at all. No special software or drivers are required - simply a

web browser in most cases. Avoid any product that requires you to load a

driver, or that uses a USB connection - your chances of having a working

driver are slim.

Personally, I prefer to separate the modem functionality from the router

functionality. That way I'm not tied down as either technology changes.
