Media Player in Vista

I am running Vista Ultimate 64 and when I attempt to launch Media Player,

nothing happens- no action, no error message. Media Center works fine.

Every once in a while just after I boot up, Media Player will run once or

twice, after that- no dice !! Any ideas out there??? Thanks
